Position: Squad Coach, Piranhas

Are you a dynamic, invested and experienced coach looking for an exciting opportunity to lead what would typically be described as a Junior National Age Squad? The Piranhas squad is filled with National Age and Junior State swimmers, and we are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and inspirational Coach to continue to lead and develop the squad.
About Carlile Swim Team:
The coaching team at Carlile are competitive, nurturing and ambitious, where commitment to excellence and continuous growth is pivotal. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative, spirited team culture and pushing our limits to achieve success. As the Squad Coach of Piranhas, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the swimmers’ development from Junior swimming to National Age swimming, improving skills, performance and overall development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Piranhas Squad during training sessions, competitions, and other team-related activities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs focused on skill development, training attitudes, and aerobic fitness.
- Motivate and inspire the squad to reach their full potential and ensure the swimmers’ development is aligned with the philosophy of the coaching team.
- Analyse performance and provide constructive feedback to help swimmers improve and develop.
- Collaborate with the coaching team to ensure that the development pathway is cohesive for developing swimmers, that enables them to seamlessly progress and achieve their full potential.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment within the squad.
- Foster relationships with team members, staff, and parents to promote collaboration and success.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven coaching experience, ideally with a background in coaching swimmers to a high level of performance at their relative age.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate swimmers.
- Deep knowledge of swimming techniques, athlete development and the history of swimming.
- Ability to manage a diverse group of individuals, fostering individual growth, team culture and parental cohesion.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- A positive attitude, with a focus on building trust, respect, and a winning mentality.
- SCTA Development Coach certification or higher is required.

Essential Role Requirements

Essential Selection Criteria
- SCTA Development Coach certification or higher.
- Demonstrated ability to coach swimmers of all levels and backgrounds.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including handling sensitive matters regarding participants in a respectful and confidential manner
- Availability for rotating roster and split shift work.
- Able to work in a flexible team dynamic to ensure the culture and environment is best for developing the club and the swimmers.
- A team-first mindset and commitment to contribute to a positive environment for all Carlile Swimming Team coaches.
