The Kick-off Story

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded Football Australia hosting rights for the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™. This marks Australia's second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™.

You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC), which has been established for the sole purpose of delivering the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™ in Australia.

This prestigious event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four. We are eager to create another tournament that celebrates women's football and multicultural Australia and also delivers legacy outcomes for football and Australian society more broadly.

Your Next Big Match

This role plays a pivotal role in planning, producing and publishing digital and social media content for the Local Organising Committee’s owned channels (website, email marketing and social media channels) in order to create tournament awareness and fan excitement to contribute to ticket sales, whilst also supporting the legacy of football in Australia. The role is highly creative, strategic and tactical, driving digital engagement and innovation along with key members of the Ticketing and Fan Engagement, and Fan Experiences and Event Teams.

The LOC owned channels and our content strategy, will complement the Asian Football Federation’s (AFC) official tournament digital marketing channels, and this role will work with Football Australia and the AFC to ensure cohesive digital marketing and social media activity

Please note that this role is fixed term until March 2026.

Digital Content & Social Media

  • Develop and execute a social media and digital content strategy that supports tournament objectives, working collaboratively with AFC, Football Australia, and LOC teams.
  • Create, deliver, and optimise engaging content across social media, websites, and email marketing, driving community engagement, channel growth, and ticket sales.
  • Manage content schedules, analyse performance, and adapt strategies based on fan insights and the evolving digital landscape to enhance the overall fan experience.

Developing Integrated Campaigns

  • Plan, manage, and optimise content and digital marketing campaigns with internal teams and agencies, supporting ticket sales and campaign effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver cohesive, brand-consistent marketing initiatives and assist with paid digital campaigns as needed.

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Analyse social media and digital performance, provide insights to guide content decisions, develop regular reports, and adjust strategies to optimise results.
  • Manage activities within budget, track spending accurately, and identify trends to maximise performance and ticketing outcomes.

General

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the broader marketing, communications and fan engagement strategies to drive ticket sales.
  • Work with direct team and wider organisation, Football Australia and AFC Teams to manage all digital marketing communications including digital content, social media and EDM’s.

What Gets You in the Game?

  • Experienced in digital and social media marketing, content creation, and publishing with a strong creative eye and storytelling ability.
  • Skilled in project management, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality in a fast-paced sporting environment.
  • Highly creative in developing campaigns and content that engage target audiences, motivate action, and align with strategic goals.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop), with skills in creating animations, audiovisual elements, and using additional tools like Canva and CapCut.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven thinker with experience in A/B testing, multivariate experiments, and using insights to optimise performance.
  • Collaborative and driven team player with excellent communication and relationship management skills, capable of working autonomously and strategically connecting fans through digital channels.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with agility, foster trust, embrace inclusivity, collaborate as one united team, and consistently strive for excellence.

  • Full working rights in Australia *(please note that due to the fixed-term nature of the tournament, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this position)
  • Working with children check (paid/employee) or state-based equivalent 
  • International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
  • Out of hours and weekend work as required
  • Our roles are based at Moore Park in Sydney
