Job Description
Netball Australia are excited to start the search for our next team member to undertake the exciting position responsible for leading the continued development and evolution of participation growth for Netball in Australia.
Reporting to EGM - Netball, the position incumbent will:
- Lead a diverse portfolio of talented people within our Community Workforce, Woolworths NetSetGo, Schools and Service and Support teams,
- Oversee the development, delivery and initiatives to drive and support continuous growth within new and existing Australian Netball communities,
- Work closely with the EGM Netball to provide strategic leadership, ensuring the growth and management of Netball in Australia’s participation base by relevant stakeholders is focused on growing the game’s footprint and profile,
- Drive the oversight and management of “The Game Plan - National Netball Participation Plan” including identified strategic participation projects as required, collaborating and integrating with other Departments and with Member Organisations,
- Use contemporary, evidence-informed resources and deploy in accordance with agreed plans to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes,
- Contribute to the design and implementation of projects across the business in line with inherent expertise and foster collaborative, agile ways of working,
- Lead, foster and champion stakeholder engagement with Member Organisations and associated Participation working groups,
- Be a strong contributor to ensure the sport achieves its objectives while mitigating risks through shared problem solving and streamlined operational efficiencies,
- Support our Member Organisations to ensure the effective and consistent implementation of nationally branded programs in each state,
- Be an innovator, understanding and remaining current on sport participation, market segmentation and product development trends,
- Contribute to and drive the development of systems and processes that effectively monitor and evaluate key participation programs,
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) against “The Game Plan - National Netball Participation Plan”,
- Provide strong, motivational leadership both within the Participation Team and our wider organisation fostering a high performing team environment, cohesion, authenticity and positivity,
- Focus on working optimally in a ‘federated’ organisational model and driving a strong Netball in Australia culture,
- Responsible for assisting with budget preparation, monitoring and interpreting financial performance,
- Overseeing external stakeholder agreements aligned with commercial and partnerships team, such as service deliverers,
- Leading the delivery of sponsorship performance targets, contracts (new) to maximise financial and operational performance.

Specialist Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a related field of employment.
- Professional Sports Industry experience
- Solid understanding of a federated sports model
- Demonstrated strategic creation and execution experience
- Proven people leadership with high emotional intelligence and confidence to build and sustain a high performing team environment
- Proven success in building business to business relationships and delivering strategic outcomes
- Strong and demonstrated ability to relate and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability in developing, maintaining, and growing strategic alliances with key public and private sector organisations.
- Knowledge and execution of planning and delivering strategies surrounding participation growth.
- High level skill with the ability to engage, negotiate and influence clients, government departments, agencies, and staff.
- Ability to lead and work effectively with and influence teams and resolve complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare presentations, external correspondence and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work objectives to achieve goals within available resources and competing timeframes.
- Experience in budget interpretation and understanding, program/project and contract management, working with Government agencies/authorities, policies and funding programs as well as the ability to attract sponsorships and grants from public and private sector organisations,
