The Head Coach of the Balmain Tigers SG Ball Cup team is responsible for leading and managing the SG Ball Cup squad, ensuring the development of young players, and implementing effective coaching strategies to achieve team success. The role involves coaching the team during training sessions and matches, collaborating with assistant coaches and support staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Team Management:
Develop and implement game plans, strategies, and training programs.
Conduct team training sessions and individual player sessions.
Prepare and deliver pre-game and post-game reviews and feedback.
Manage team selection and player rotation.
Player Development:
Identify and nurture talent within the team.
Provide ongoing mentorship and support to players to enhance their skills and performance.
Collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches to optimise player fitness and injury prevention.
Game Preparation:
Analyse opposition teams and develop tactical plans to address their strengths and weaknesses.
Coordinate with coaching staff to ensure effective game-day preparations and logistics.
Monitor and evaluate player performance during games and training.
Communication:
Maintain open lines of communication with players, support staff, and club management.
Foster a positive team culture and address any team-related issues or conflicts.
Represent the club in media interactions and community events as required.
PROGRAM COMMITMENTS:
Trials in mid-September.
2x sessions and a game to finish.
Preseason November 2024 – January 2025.
3x sessions a week, with the odd Saturday session.
Christmas break: December 22nd, 2024 – January 6th, 2025
Competition February 2025 – April 2025.
3x sessions a week, with a game on Saturday.
Finals commence in early April.
Program concludes in late April.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Current NRL Club Coach and/or Community Club Coach Accreditation (19’s +).
Proven experience as a rugby league coach, preferably with experience at the SG Ball Cup level or similar.
Strong knowledge of rugby league tactics, rules, and player development techniques.
Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications (e.g., Level 1, 2, or 3 Rugby League Coaching Accreditation).
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in player scouting and recruitment is an advantage
