The Sunshine Coast Phoenix Basketball Association is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified candidates for the NBL1 North Women's Head Coach for season 2025.

Sunshine Coast Basketball Association is one of the bigger basketball organisations in Queensland. Based on the Sunshine Coast, it sees more than 3000 members participate in the game of basketball, each week. At Sunshine Coast Phoenix, we offer an excellent playing, coaching and refereeing pathway.

Working closely with the General Manager and SCBA Board of Directors, the successful applicant will be responsible for selecting, developing, managing and providing clear direction to our NBL1 Women's team and senior women's program during season 2025.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Exceptional basketball knowledge, including previous experience as a head or assistant coach at senior championship level.
  • Experience in managing team budgets for recruitment.
  • Recruitment experience in selecting players from Australian and international programs.
  • Ability to work within and uphold SCBA cultural standards.
  • Ability to recruit players who align with SCBA's values.
  • Ability to develop and manage coaching staff and player group.
  • Excellent communication skills within a coaching and player development environment.
  • Ability to foster an elite mindset and create a professional culture.
  • Well organised, creative, adaptable and willing to work within the structure of the wider association.
  • A desire to build a program that allows development opportunities for promising Junior Phoenix players.
  • Passionate and skillful motivator and leader.
  • Passionate about creating better players and coaches.
  • The successful candidate will possess a current drivers licence, Working with Children's check and possess knowledge of basketball's elite coach and player pathway.
  • Hold a Level 2 (Association Coach) coaching accreditation and/or equivalent experience at elite-level basketball. The role is for an experienced basketball coach who will be able to demonstrate the ability to continue to drive development within the SCBA.
