Your Opportunity
Are you a coach or sports industry administrator looking for a career that is challenging but also rewarding? Do you have a passion for the sports industry, recent industry experience and industry qualifications? Have you considered sharing your knowledge and skills with future industry experts?
The Role
As an Educator in the Academy of Sport Team, you will support quality learning for students who are interested in pursuing a career in sport coaching, game development and/or in a sporting administration roles.
This will involve creating and delivering training programs, evaluating student performance, and providing effective feedback and guidance to support identified continuous improvement opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you will require strong educational delivery and communication skills, as you will be working closely with students, athletes, coaches, industry partners and other members of the Academy of Sport Team. A strong understanding of the relevant sporting industry is required, as well as experience in developing and delivering training programs.
You will be responsible for keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the sports industry, and sharing this knowledge with your students and colleagues. You may also be required to participate in research projects, through collaboration with sporting organisations to promote and support student development opportunities.
We have multiple part-time and full-time temporary fixed-term opportunities available until 30 June 2025 (unless otherwise determined) across locations within the Brisbane Region.
This position reports to the Educational Team Leader.

We are seeking educators with a focus in these specialised fields:
- AFL
- Basketball
- Cricket
- Football
- Hockey
- Gymnastics
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union; and
- with links to the sports industry as a whole.
Salary
The salary range for a TAFE Queensland Teacher Step 1-4 is $88,547.03 - $100,232.42 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must possess the following:
Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;
- SIS20321 – Certificate II in Sport Coaching
- SIS30521 – Certificate III in Sport Coaching
- SIS30421 – Certificate III in Sport - Athlete
- SIS50321 – Diploma of Sport
and/or equivalent industry qualifications and/or experience.
- Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
- Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
- Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

- Current Queensland Driver’s license.
Additionally, to become a Educator, Academy of Sport, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; plus:
- TAELLN411 or its successor or TAELLN401A; and
- TAEASS502 or its successor or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B; or
- A credential issued by a higher education provider which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher and one (1) of the following credentials:
- TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor, or
- TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or
- TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set; or
- A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

Please note applicants need not necessarily possess teaching experience, as the right candidate may be trained and developed through coaching, mentoring and partnering. Importance is placed on possession of the appropriate qualifications, industry experience and the right attitude.
TAFE Queensland can support in the upskilling process to obtain a Certificate IV Training and Assessment qualification for the right candidate. This will allow you to develop and deliver training programs effectively and assess the competency of students.
