South Lake Dolphins Swimming Club (“SLD”) are recruiting for a Squad Swimming Coach, based at the Cockburn Arc Aquatic Centre.

Established in 1992, SLD is a year-round swimming club located in the City of Cockburn. A club that recognises goals and ambitions of individual athletes and provides support to achieve them in a safe and welcoming environment. A club that embraces diversity, inclusion, and growth, enhancing the experience of members through innovative coaching and training methods.

Our coaches and volunteers have a proven track record and are committed to helping all of our athletes accomplish their swimming goals.  

This position offers the right candidate an opportunity to join one of Western Australia’s premier division A swimming clubs, who is proud of its reputation as a family-oriented club that values inclusiveness, teamwork, respect, confidence-building and enjoyment of sport.

Key responsibilities.

  • Work closely with the Head coach, committee, and other coaching staff across all squads.
  • Deliver and guide junior squads through regular training sessions.
  • Assist with the development of training programs.
  • Attending and encouraging swimmers at all targeted swimming meets.  
  • Provide supportive feedback to swimmers, including stroke, dive and turn techniques during training sessions and competitions, to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Improve confidence and skills of swimmers.  
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of swimmers, in line with training plans and squad’s requirements.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the following key traits and experience:

  • Prior coaching experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with swimmers and stakeholders.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills, willingness to engage and mentor junior swimmers.
  • A positive attitude and a passion to help swimmers achieve their full potential.
  • An ability to communicate openly, clearly and respectfully, and a willingness to work with the club committee.
  • Willingness to have an adaptable and engaging teaching style.  
  • Ability to form relationships with the committee, parents and swimmers within the club.  

Required Qualifications:

  • SCTA Competitive strokes
  • Swimming Australia Development coach (or working towards)
  • Willing to undergo a National Police Clearance check
  • Working with children check

Coaching hours and remuneration can be discussed on application and negotiated at interview.
