Melbourne Storm is an Australian professional rugby league club playing in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. We are the only NRL team based in Victoria and have experienced substantial growth and success in our short history.

Reporting to the Head of Membership, The Membership Sales Manager will oversee and guide the membership sales team within the Membership Department and will work closely and collaboratively with the Membership Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of the end-to-end membership function for Melbourne Storm.

The Membership Sales Manager will play a key role in supporting our team of Sales Representatives and is responsible for assisting to drive the team achievement of daily sales figures, through a combination of inbound and outbound calls to members and prospects, as well as the acquisition, retention and overall growth of Club membership numbers and revenue.  The ability to identify new membership and revenue opportunities is integral to success in this role.

This role holds overall responsibility of the build and execution of the consumer acquisition and retention program, including growing revenue across membership and ticketing. An integral part of this role will be to develop and oversee strategies to grow the consumer base of the Melbourne Storm.

This role will be responsible for a number of key deliverables across member acquisition, retention, ticket sales and service including, but not limited to:

  • Creating, developing and executing sales and retention plans to maintain and grow membership numbers and club revenue, in line with the Club’s marketing strategies and business growth targets.
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to build and deliver a ticketing strategy to grow and maximise ticket sales revenue.
  • Generate membership leads using existing databases, referrals, and other relevant campaigns to drive sales and revenue growth.
  • Utilising data and stakeholders, both internal and external, to generate and close traditional and non -traditional membership leads and new prospects.
  • Developing strategies to elevate members to higher yield membership categories.
  • Working with available data to identify patterns and risk to minimize membership churn
  • Ensuring that all benefits contained within premium membership products are consistently delivered
  • Effectively overseeing and coaching a high-performance sales team, to deliver upon daily targets and KPIs
  • Creating and managing staffing rosters and budget for membership sales team
  • Ensuring accurate records of all prospects and members are entered and maintained within the membership database and other systems.
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure the overall membership program is delivered to the highest possible standard

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a membership and sales role
  • Bring an exceptional sales focus with a drive to meet targets and motivate others
  • Possess an excellent understanding of membership and/or ticketing systems, processes, and procedures
  • Bring strong and proven people management experience
  • Ideally have a tertiary qualification in Sports Management, Business, or related discipline.
  • Have an understanding of the consumer sector.
  • Experience in a sporting club is highly regarded.
