The Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL), the largest junior (AFL) football League in Australia with approximately 500 teams and 11,000 players, has an exciting opportunity for a Football Operations Manager to join its team.

The Football Operations Manager is a member of the YJFL executive, and works closely with the CEO and Commercial & Operations Manager, leading the Football Operations of the League. This position would suit someone with experience in a sporting organisation. We are using industry-leading technology for our fixturing & grading, simplifying the role significantly. You will use the new AFL competition system (PlayHQ), as well as our new fixturing system, and you will work from our outstanding, brand-new office & football facilities at Ford Park in Ivanhoe.

The role includes managing YJFL competitions including team entry, fixturing & grading, supporting volunteer Club office-bearers as they perform their duties, applying YJFL rules & policies to Club requests relating to teams & players, and working with recreation staff at Councils. You will be supported by and be a crucial member of a supportive and dedicated team. You will also work with the YJFL Board Football Director, and from time to time, you will present to the YJFL Board.

Well-developed IT & communication skills are important, and ideally you will have a track record of volunteering.

We are financially secure (operating independently of but through an affiliation with the AFL), and have 32 very supportive junior clubs. We run competitions from Under 8 through to Under 18, in the eastern & northern parts of Melbourne, from Glen Iris to Greensborough, & from Richmond to Warrandyte. Girls footy is changing the face of the League & our clubs for the better, as women and girls are engaged with our clubs and our game.

We also develop talented players to play in the AFL NAB League for boys & girls - historically over 10% of AFL listed male players, and 5% of AFLW listed players, came from the YJFL.

The position is a full-time, paid position, and will attract a more than competitive salary package, including industry-leading leave and time off in-lieu arrangements. It will involve working on Sundays during the football season, which is from mid-April to the end of August.

The YJFL is committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation and encourages applications from people of all ages, nationalities, abilities, religions, genders, sexualities and cultural identities.
