Description

The role of the ACT National Athlete Pathway Program is to lead and oversee Hockey Australia’s National Athlete Pathway Program within the ACT and ensure that athletes are prepared to contribute to the Hockey Australia National Pathway if selected. The role will be employed by Hockey ACT as part of a tri-party agreement between Hockey ACT (HACT), Hockey Australia (HA) and the ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS). The key functions of the role include:

  1. To provide an elite/sub-elite athlete ‘daily training environment’ (DTE) for Nationally Identified athletes residing in the state;
  2. Lead and coach the ACTAS Hockey NAPP Program and manage its available resources, including the performance services team to maximize the development and performances of HA categorised or nationally identified scholarship athletes. This includes training and competition planning, Individual Performance Planning (IPP) as well as managing the ACTAS assets or equipment at your disposal, and ensuring that the athletes, coaching staff and ACTAS program follows or complies with relevant national direction, AIS campus requirements and ACTAS policies and procedures;
  3. To provide education and the embedding of strategies related to technical skill development, "Way of Play", HP culture & standards to the NAP program;
  4. To plan and lead the National athlete identification process within the state, providing opportunities for athletes to be assessed for inclusion to the HA HP Pathway regardless of location;
  5. High Performance Manager for the Canberra Chill from 2023 onwards;
  6. To provide Technical guidance, advice and leadership to the State Pathways program, including its stakeholders through the delivery of the National Technical Skills framework;
  7. To be engaged in the delivery of HA National Pathway squads and teams, including identification and selection, National development opportunities, National and International Competition opportunities;
  8. Provide State and CL1 Coaches mentoring and education specifically in the areas of HA National Competency frameworks;
  9. Planning and administration support related to the functioning of the National Athlete Pathway programs;
  10. In conjunction with the HACT Talent Coach be responsible for the organisation and delivery of the ETS Program;
  11. Working in conjunction with the Umpiring and Technical Committee to ensure pathway opportunities exist for umpires and technical officials and to assist umpires to prepare for progression opportunities.
