The Darebin Women’s Sports Club (Darebin Falcons) is a pioneering girls and women sporting club that has pathways for junior Aussie rules players through to senior and elite, as well as the largest junior soccer program in Victoria. It also offers opportunities to play cricket and 8 ball, with 40 teams and over 750 players with programs for 4yr olds to Over 35's. 

As General Manager you will be responsible for managing the Darebin Falcon’s Club business, supporting its future development and success through a range of commercial, sporting and participatory objectives.

You will develop strategy with Darebin Falcons Board to manage key Club functions and particularly to increase revenue stream, including:

  • Oversee grant applications, delivery and manage acquittals 
  • Managing strategic communications and relationships with club membership, including managing life members 
  • Plan coordinate and deliver major Club events, such as fundraising, player sponsorships, strategic partners, end of year senior presentation night
  • Implement strategies to recruit and maintain existing sponsor/partner relationships and digital Club promotion
  • Coordinate and support volunteers involved in media, comms, website and merchandise activities
  • Provide Secretariat and other support to the Board’s strategic partnerships group and any other monthly sub-Committees as required
  • Collaborate with the VFL Operations Manager to:
    • Manage VFLW Player Sponsorship recruitment and relationships
    • Manage and deliver VFLW and club newsletters
    • Attend training and games from time to time and establish relationships with Club players, coaches and officials 

This 0.6 role will provide flexibility in terms of hours and location worked.

Essential Requirements

  • Commercial Acumen
  • Experience in business marketing/sponsorship and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to prepare reports, agendas, minutes and interact with a Board.
  • Ability to develop and manage strategic relationships.
  • Strong project management skills, delivering on time and within budget.

Desirable Criteria

  • Sports Management / Business Degree
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience in sponsorship, grants, philanthropy, or corporate social responsibility
  • Tertiary qualification in business management.
  • Experience with community sport administration
