The Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) is an independent tertiary institution, founded in 1917. About the role

After a successful recruitment drive at the end of 2021, ACPE is continuing to build its team of lecturers to carry out teaching and administration within the Sports Business Department.  These roles are a result of significant growth in the Sports Business Department and the need to meet present and future needs. ACPE is recruiting the equivalent of two fulltime lecturers, with the roles able to be filled through either full time or part time appointments.  Applicants who applied for these positions at the end of 2021 need not re-submit applications.

As a member of the Sports Business Department, you will contribute to the development of the department’s reputation as a leader in the field of sports business studies. It is expected that you will work co-operatively with the Head of Department and the Sports Business team and engage in the design and delivery of programmes that maximise student engagement and contribute to an exceptional student learning experience. Successful applicants will also be expected to contribute to the broader College community and to be committed to the strategic improvement of the Sports Business offering.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops as required at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an on campus and/or digital form (e.g., online and remote teaching);
  • Develop unit and course curriculum materials including assessment tasks for both on campus and online delivery.
  • Engage in assessment and moderation processes.
  • Be involved in evaluating learning and teaching, both at the unit level and in relation to their own practice.
  • Undertake administration primarily relating to their activities at the College as directed by their Head of Department, including providing written unit and moderation reports, assessment data and reports
  • Engage in scholarly development and engagement in their discipline area.
  • Attend college meetings and other events or activities as required by the Head of Department.
  • Coordinate or lead the activities of other staff as appropriate to their appointment level.
  • Working collaboratively across the college academic and associated departments

As well as experience teaching in higher education, to be considered for a position candidates will need to hold, at minimum, a master’s degree in a field relevant to the degrees offered in the Sports Business Department.  The major study areas of the Sports Business Department are:

The following are considered desirable qualities for this role:

  • Tertiary experience in teaching face-to-face, blended and online
  • Industry experience derived through professional roles within the sport sector or which are relevant to subjects offered within the Sports Business department
  • Experience in using Learning Management Systems such as Canvas
  • A professional network which can add value to the Sports Business Department and to the learning environment of students
