Surf Life Saving SA is looking for a Customer Service Officer. We are looking for someone with great positive energy and a happy disposition, who cares about others and who genuinely likes to help and assist people in this important role for our organisation.

Surf Life Saving SA (SLSSA) is the peak organisation for surf life saving in South Australia and is affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia.

Position Scope:

The Customer Service Officer provides high level administrative support to the SLSSA Team including the CEO and SLSSA Board of Directors. The position is responsible for creating the right first impression of SLSSA through maintaining and coordinating all tasks at reception, including the answering of calls and co-ordination of general office matters.
The successful applicant will also provide the CEO with Executive Assistant support.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Customer Service

  • Answering and screening of all incoming calls to SLSSA.
  • Greeting and managing all visitors at reception.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing daily correspondence.
  • Manage all reception duties and requirements.
  • Key point of contact to assist Surf Life Saving Clubs with general enquiries.
  • Key point of contact for all enquiries from the general public and community members.

Office Administration

  • Support and assist SLSSA staff with administrative tasks if and when required.
  • Maintain general office supplies.
  • Be the key point of contact for all general office management such as office supplies, kitchen supplies, consumables, pest control, lift maintenance etc.
  • Maintain a general filing and electronic filing system.
  • Assist and support the maintenance of a healthy and effective office environment.

Other Administration:

  • Be the key point of contact for SLSSA and Clubs for the national database system (Surf Guard) including data input and extraction.
  • Coordinate all Child Safe and National Police Checks for staff and assist Clubs with these.
  • Create and distribute relevant circulars and bulletins to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide secretarial support to relevant Committees and Panels as required.
  • Coordinate and maintain the booking system for all meeting rooms at SLSSA, including setup and pack down when required.
  • Other duties as required.

Executive Assistant Duties:

  • Provide executive support to the CEO.
  • Provide secretarial support at Board and State Council Meetings as required.
  • Ensure that relevant Agendas, Minutes and reports are circulated efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain the diary and travel arrangements of the CEO and organise and confirm arrangements and appointments.
  • Assist the CEO in the preparation, collation and distribution of correspondence and communications.
  • Advise the CEO of matters requiring personal attention, with associated deadlines and preparation of relevant documentation.
  • Provide executive support to the State President and Board of Directors where and when appropriate.

Selection Criteria

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in administration, customer service, reception, or Executive Assistant role/s.
  • Strong modern office acumen including computer and phone skills.
  • Strong understanding of the importance and intricacies of customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be a team player who genuinely likes to help and assist others.
  • Must have great energy and a positive outlook.
  • Must be a person with high empathy and care for others.

Hours of work:

The position is full-time Monday to Friday and the nature of the role may require some out of hours and weekend work.

Special Requirements:

The successful applicant will be required to satisfy the requirements of Working with Children and National Police checks and must have a current driver’s license.
