Tennis is a sport for all ages and as such, Tennis Australia and Tennis West continually advocate the benefits of tennis as a major sport. Enhancing the quality of tennis venues across Western Australia for all to enjoy is a key element of an overall strategy to promote the sport. Both Tennis Australia and Tennis West aim to be well-regarded and effective partners with all stakeholders. We are currently looking for a Operations Lead to cover a full time, 9 month, maternity leave contract. The Places to Play team at Tennis West seeks to build and share knowledge, plan collaboratively with partners, attract investment, promote sustainability and improve venue use and capacity.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, in this role you will support the team to drive positive results and outcomes for tennis in Western Australia. You will use your strong external and internal relationships and a collaborative approach to facility planning Tennis West and will seek to influence venue planning and management by clubs, venue operators and government agencies across the state.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute positively to the implementation of recommendations and strategic directions outlined in the 'Tennis West Strategic Facilities Plan (a roadmap for the future of tennis facilities - 2018 and beyond)'
  • Development of programs and resources in partnership with Tennis Australia Places team to educate clubs and stakeholders of facility development trends and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with affiliates and local government authorities to encourage participation in the Thriving Tennis Communities conversation.
  • Provide resources and education to affiliates, clubs and local government stakeholders to ensure appropriate tenure agreements are achieved and maintained.
  • Lead and actively engage/collaborate with the Head of Tennis (North & South) Regional Participation on all venue related funding initiatives.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in sports administration/management/business or similar (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience with and understanding of state and local government policies and processes as they relate to community sport, with existing contacts and networks.
  • An understanding of strategic planning, delivery and performance monitoring and assessment; and an ability to assist with related operational tasks & matters as required.
  • Experience in developing partnerships - an ability to support and develop the key relationships required to effectively implement strategy.
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
