About the role:

Our Area Managers are integral to leading operations in Recreation Centres while mentoring and developing the area team. As the Area Manager in the wider Sydney Metropolitan Area, you will be responsible for driving business and growth within an agreed operating budget while also ensuring contract compliance requirements are being met. In addition, you have an opportunity to direct and oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programs and business opportunities, both centre-based and community-hosted, which reflect the needs of the local community. You will be responsible for representing the Y in the tender process to acquire new recreation facility tenders. As we are currently in an exciting growth phase, this role is fast-paced and would require previous tender knowledge and experience.

About you:

You will be confident with financial and business planning and be able to demonstrate appropriate experience in these areas. Dynamic, natural leadership skills are essential to manage, develop, inspire and motivate staff in your area and beyond. You will have a reputation for thinking strategically, with substantial commercial acumen and experiences in strategy, growth and innovation. You will participate in a regional team approach to service delivery of the highest quality and manage customer relations through effective sales and marketing campaigns.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline (Sports Management, Business etc.)
  • 10+ years’ experience in a Senior Leadership / Executive position
  • Strong people leadership capability
  • Experience in business management of multiple locations
  • Track record for growth, financial performance and innovation
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to organisation direction and opportunities
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Police Check (paid for by the Y)
  • First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)

Our Recreation Team is a close-knit community of energetic people-people, with a passion for staying active and helping others. From our Duty Managers and Customer Service Officers, to our Instructors and Coordinators, the team are responsible for transforming our 24 Recreation Centres into warm, inclusive and safe spaces – providing access to health, fitness and recreation opportunities for those who need it most.
