  • The position serves to oversee the skill development of community football coaches & players.
  • Contributing to the overall increase of retention and participation levels in football
  • Increasing the quality and quantity of accredited coaches in Nepean FA
  • Devise, deliver and implement coach education programs as part of the FA National Coach Education curriculum for community football.



  • Develop, implement and manage the Nepean FA CCC programme or a similar coach development network
  • Develop skill base of CCC's within clubs to deliver Mini-Roos courses to their own clubs or hubs of clubs.
  • Establish and execute a Coach Development (CD) plan, ensuring all coaches have access to appropriate mentoring, education & support opportunities
  • Organisation, administration and delivery of (or co-ordinate delivery) of FA coach accreditation courses, most notably, Skills Training Certificate, Game Training Certificate & Senior Coaching Certificate
  • Train, develop (and recruit/retain) course presenters/academy presenters
  • Co-ordinate coach development meetings, functions and special events (both internally and with external partners)
  • Train, develop and monitor new club coaches and assist them to plan and implement meaningful practice sessions that incorporate development, skill and strategy.


  • Explore, develop &/or coordinate the delivery of an Academy structure for our district.  This would include
    • Successful effective marketing,
    • Recruiting and retaining a pool of suitably qualified casual staff,
    • producing the curriculum,
    • being responsible for budgeting in consultation with the CEO,
    • sourcing suitable venues
    • submit progress reports to the CEO once the format has the endorsement of the Board. 
  • Explore, develop &/or coordinate the delivery of School Holiday Clinics structures for our district.  This would include
    • Successful effective marketing,
    • sourcing suitable staff,
    • producing the curriculum,
    • being responsible for budgeting,
    • sourcing venues etc. etc.
    • Reportable to the CEO once the format has the endorsement of the Board. 
  • Work with NFC Technical Director on aspects of the delivery of Nepean FA SAP, GSAP and AYL programs
  • Present clinics or specific courses such as goalkeeper training – co-ordination/engage other experts in the game if necessary.
  • Develop and roll out innovative concepts or programs to engage current playing members with a view to developing their skills, outside of an Academy environment


  • Maintain positive working relationships with NFA Clubs and affiliated entities (NRG/NFC), volunteers & stakeholders
  • Track and promote coaching and skill development “good news” stories
  • Assist in maintaining social media & websites (specific to your role)
  • Prepare a monthly report to the CEO, summarising monthly activities, highlighting areas of concern, success, development progress etc.
  • Work with local community groups (indigenous, ethnic & marginalised groups) to increase wellness, association/community connection and participation
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for the Association to constantly innovate and provide exceptional value and service to member clubs.
  • To develop and deliver or alternatively, to engage outside facilitators of other educational courses for coaches, club personnel, players and other interested parties.  These courses can be complementary to coaching or will support other football related pillars within our strategic plans.  Essentially, this role will be invested in making football great in our district using education as one of the tools to excite and empower all participants, including coaches.
  • Recruit, train and appoint casual coaching staff, including induction, development, rostering, reviews & assessment.
  • Liaise with local Referees Group to present opportunities to educate the coaches, managers and the parents on the rules of the game and codes of conduct within the association
  • Conduct player assessments for consideration of exemptions as required.
  • Produce projects that would connect our organisation with parts of the community that would benefit from a relationship with football in its many formats. Including but not limited to Schools, institutions, marginalised areas of the community, untapped markets.
  • To serve as a technical advisor to the CEO and to the Board Of Directors when requested, and therefore attend board meetings upon request.
  • Provide valuable technical feedback to both Football NSW and FA on the position of Nepean FA and the impact that current trends/projects are having on our members.
  • Other duties as reasonably requested by the CEO


  • Design and implement a continuing education program for CCC’s (Club Coaching Co-Ordinators)
  • Develop a Nepean FA Player Skill Academy for specified age groups to act as a pathway for football at a level higher than district
  • Develop and implement a successful NFA Schools Program/Network within the local schools systems by educating and supporting teachers and/or providing Coach Education workshops/accreditation to Secondary School Students.
  • Create opportunities and relationships with the Education System/Local Schools, including, but not limited to establishing training opportunities in Coaching & Refereeing (in consultation with NRG), School Tournaments and general exposure to football opportunities.


  • Develop online & physical resource materials that can easily be replicated and distributed by the association at no or low cost to member clubs.


  • Attend meetings as required
  • Represent the Association at State, Regional, and National coaching seminars and workshops


  • The successful delivery of clinics to coaches
  • The successful delivery of school holiday clinics in the district, using paid presenters.
  • Education, development and mentoring opportunities to coaches and players
  • Improve the quantity and quality of accredited coaches within the Association
  • Increase engagement with coach development, education, and support services across our membership
  • Demonstrated success of players and coaches progressing through the pathway
  • Demonstrated overall satisfaction with the participation experience
  • Increase coaching participation rates in Female Football by targeting a significant increase in accredited female coaches
  • Maintain a physical presence at Community Clubs minimum 1 night per week during the Winter Season.
  • Demonstrate successful mentorship and empowerment of Club Coaching Co-ordinators and Volunteer Club Coaches.
  • Prepare and execute an annual calendar of technical development for coaches and players
  • Establish a Club Coach Co-ordinator Program with 25% participation rate within our clubs. 



  • AFC B License accredited (or higher) is preferred
  • Accredited as a community coaching course presenter
  • Tertiary qualifications in sports administration, management or equivalent highly desirable

  • Adherence to the Association’s policies and procedures
  • The nature of this role requires frequent after-hours work, including weekends.
  • Working with Children Check clearance for paid work
  • Hold a valid Driver’s license
  • Is legally entitled to work in Australia
  • Have empathy for the work undertaken by community volunteers
