Description

WRAS is seeking to appoint a self-motivated administrator with a genuine interest in sport (in particular junior sports talent development) to the role of Sports Program Manager (SPM). The SPM will join an expanding team, managing our sports programs and associated services. The SPM reports directly to the Executive Officer but shares responsibility with the team. The Sports Program Manager works closely with the Executive Officer, State Sporting Organisations and each sport’s coaches and manager to ensure the effective development and delivery of programs. The incumbent has a strong understanding of the athlete development pathway for each sport. The incumbent has both hands-on and strategic involvement with sports to ensure that each program is relevant to the strategic direction of the pre-elite athlete pathways.

Duties / Responsibilities of the Sports Program Manager

  • Lead, plan and direct the development of sports programs for a range of sports in different environments with the support of the Executive Officer (EO) and Office Manager
  • Work closely with the State Sporting Organisations (SSOs), Head Coach, support personnel, identified presenters and stakeholders in providing a cohesive program and development opportunities for the athletes
  • Recruit, train and oversee volunteers to assist in the effective delivery of WRAS programs
  • Seek effective and continually developing programs through review, monitoring, and reporting on the program implementation’s effectiveness
  • Regularly communicate with the EO to seek direction and provide progress updates
  • Positively influence performance and development outcomes for athletes and coaches by providing the necessary structure that will lead to success
  • Oversee the implementation of the Injury Prevention and Strength/Conditioning programs for all athletes across the WRAS catchment
  • Prepare regular reports for the EO, Board and Sports Program Coaches on the development of WRAS athletes
  • Organise and conduct conferences and events
  • In conjunction with the EO, pursue marketing opportunities, prepare sponsorship proposals and service sponsors
  • In conjunction with the Communications Officer, monitor and provide content for the WRAS website, social media channels and WRAS communication portal
  • Source and implement professional development opportunities for squad staff
  • Other duties as requested by the Executive Officer
