Accountable for maintaining and executing Athletics Australia’s Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement (AW&E) Framework, the AW&E Coordinator will provide support to elite athletes as they steer their careers through high performance programs, empowering them to find a positive balance inside and outside of their sporting endeavours. The role will comprise of providing athletes with world-class performance support, through access to personal and professional development, tailored mental health assistance and community engagement initiatives.
Having a reputation for fostering positive relationships, you are able to quickly build trust and rapport with others, while exhibiting the confidence and experience to deal with situations of a sensitive nature. You possess strong communication skills and have the ability to engage, develop, motivate and guide athletes to achieve successful outcomes. A strong understanding of high performance sport (preferably athletics), and previous experience in AW&E will be highly regarded.
The Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement Coordinator will:
- Provide support in AW&E to athletes in order to positively impact on athlete performance at all stages of their career;
- Work collaboratively with AA’s AW&E Manager and High Performance team to successfully deliver the Athletics Australia AW&E Framework;
- Build positive relationships with athletes, support networks, stakeholders and the athletics community; and
- Promote a culture that values mental health literacy and awareness.
This is a part-time (3 days per a week) two-year contract role, funded with support from AIS Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement investment, in order to create a culture whereby we can look after athletes during their time in high performance sport and at the same time collaborate, strive and achieve success together.
