Key Performance Area

  1. Assist in the development, monitoring and execution of policies and procedures on rules for participation and advancement
  2. Assist State Committees in developing annual sporting calendar
  3. Assist State and Clubs with volunteer & athlete requirements
  4. Assist with the identification and mitigation of risks associated with all program operations, including those relating to child safety
  5. Support the State Committee in achieving objectives

Key Tasks

  1. Communicate and educate stakeholders on revised policies and procedures
  2. Assist State Sports Coordinator to gather, compile and review sports calendars from Clubs
  3. Identify volunteer needs and recruit and train suitable candidates
  4. Provide leadership and direction to volunteer committees, creating a welcoming environment for new volunteers and athletes
  5. Assist clubs to achieve full accreditation status every two years
  6. Assist clubs with volunteer and athlete compliance
  7. Assist clubs with annual volunteer and athlete registrations
  8. Assist clubs in ensuring membership database within the State is updated
  9. Attend State meetings as required
  10. Work with key staff to meet Government and Community Grant obligations

Essential Criteria:

  1. Ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships
  2. Ability to develop, execute and monitor sports based policies, procedures, systems and tools
  3. Experience working with and supporting volunteers
  4. Understanding of the Australian sport sector
  5. Exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail
  6. Excellent customer service and communication skills
  7. Ability to work autonomously and multi-task, supporting several projects at one time
  8. Ability to prioritise and organize individual workload and achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes
  9. High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  10. Ability to support and promote the mission and values of Special Olympics Australia

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Understanding of and commitment to supporting people with an intellectual disability
  2. Understanding of the workings of not-for-profit and/or national disability organisations
  3. Valid First Aid qualification or the willingness to acquire one
