It is an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to develop and grow the game from grassroots through to elite.  Key to the success of these plans are coaches who ultimately support and shape the experiences tennis players have in the game.  To support the development of our coaching community, one of our games greatest assets, we are looking for a Head of Coach Development - Participation to join the team.

Reporting to the Chief Tennis Officer and sitting on the Tennis Leadership Team, this strategic role has the opportunity to shape of future of coach development in Australia.  You will engage with stakeholders from across tennis to develop a holistic strategy that provides professional coach development both on and off the court.  Leading a national team you will collaborate with the Member Associations in each state to bring this strategy to life and elevate the standard of coaching in Australia.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, deliver and refine the professional development program for Australian participation coaches
  • Ensure Tennis Australia is utilizing world-leading coaching trends and learning practises
  • Creating a common philosophy and positive learning culture amongst all coaches
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the tennis landscape to ensure alignment and engagement
  • Manage the National Coaching Advisory Group (NCAG) 
  • Lead and develop the national Coach Development team
  • Work closely with Head of Performance - Coach Development to ensure consistency in coaching curriculum and principles across coach pathway

What you will bring to this role:

  • Sound knowledge of Participation tennis coaching (national & international) and learning practices
  • Demonstrated experience in education & training in sporting environments
  • Ability to build professional and trusted relationships with both key internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven knowledge of all aspects of player development (technical, tactical, physical and mental)
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Coaching qualification (minimum Club Professional)
  • TA coach member or willingness to become a TA coach member (essential)
  • Tertiary qualification in physical education, sport science, human movement (preferred)
  • Preparedness to be flexible with respect to working hours and be willing to travel
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
