Description

The Business Development Director will develop the organisational business and revenue through commercial partnerships, fundraising and grants.

The Business Development Director will be required to identify and engage prospective partners, build strong relationships within the respective business and ultimately secure new partners/revenue opportunities for key business areas whilst ensuring all reporting obligations are adhered to.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review and document the organisation’s assets with forward planning and outlining of potential commercialization opportunities.
  2. Review organisation current partnerships to identify avenues to upgrade partnerships for the organisation.
  3. Develop strategies to market our sport to the lacrosse and general community.
  4. Streamline communication for and with the lacrosse and general community.
  5. Identify and create opportunities for partners and cross promotional activities.
  6. Identify new potential partners/sponsors and develop proposal documents.
  7. Build and implement retention strategies for existing partners.
  8. Ensure partner/sponsor queries and concerns are dealt with speedily, appropriately and sensitively at all times.
  9. Monitor and, when appropriate, seek grant funding from Federal, State and Local Council grant programs.
  10. Work with staff to develop marketing collateral including tailored client proposals and presentations for organisation and High Performance teams/players.
  11. Provide partnership/sponsorship reporting including market trends and data analysis.
  12. Develop management systems and processes to ensure that all partnership benefits are delivered.
  13. Undertake research and prospecting initiatives to commercialise ALA programs and activities.
  14. Research and produce case studies on best sponsorship activity, communicating market trends and activity in sport.
  15. Establish links and work with Member Associations to promote the sport of lacrosse and to pursue avenues for short, medium and long-term revenue-raising.

8.  KEY SELECTION CRITERIA, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Possess sound commercial and sponsorship expertise and experience.
  2. Has the ability to use own initiative to perform tasks and forward plan, to prioritise workloads and to work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  3. Be able to effectively interact with team members and build effective working relationships with staff, board and stakeholders.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  5. High level of problem solving and analytical skills.
  6. Demonstrates creative ability.
  7. Strong customer service and stakeholder relationship management experience.
  8. Excellent presentation skills.
  9. Enthusiasm and motivation to develop the portfolio.
  10. Prior experience on a volunteer/not for profit board.

This is a voluntary position with an honorarium provided. The estimated time commitment is approximately 5 hours per week and can be based anywhere in Australia.
