The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, located on the Northern beaches, at Newport, is seeking to appoint a Senior Head Instructor for their comprehensive sail training programs.  Reporting to the Sailing & Communications Manager, this role involves the design and implementation of high quality recreational sailing programs for primary school aged children, youth and adults. The focus will be on delivering memorable experiences, growth and contributing to the consistent high quality of the Club's sail training programs.

Working with our Sail Training Administrator, the role will include mentoring instructors and sourcing new instructors to deliver our Discover Sailing Centre, schools and class training programs. The ideal condidate will bring a strong knowledge of planning and delivering outstanding sail training programs as well as being involved in promoting all sailing activities and membership opportunities at the Club.

This is a full time position 5 days per week, 38 hours.  Flexibility of hours and days of the week will be required due to school terms and sailing season activities.  Weekend work will be required.  RPAYC offers a competitive and above Club Award annual salary in one of the largest yacht clubs in NSW.  Join a fun, friendly supportive team offering professional development opportunities.  

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • Level 2/Senior/Apply/Provide First Aid
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR
  • Advanced Resuscitation
  • Working with children check
  • Drivers Licence
  • Degree in relevant discipline tertiary qualifications in Education, Human Movement, Sport Science OR able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through your professional experience delivering, planning sail training activities
  • Australian Sailing (AS) Instructor Qualifications or RYE equivalent - dinghy, keelboat, powerboat, windsurfing (desirable)
  • Strong enthusiasm for children's and youth sport and fitness
  • Strong administration and co-ordination of events and instructor skills
  • Awareness of Child Safety/Protection principles and willingness to abide by approved child safe policies
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Proven ability to communicate with stakeholders and work in a team environment
  • NSW Boat Licence
  • High level of sailing experience
