Description

Nudgee College Swimming is an aspirational swimming club in Brisbane with aims to provide an enthusiastic environment where swimmers of all age groups, feel valued and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The club is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate full-time swimming coach to lead the Piranhas & Stingrays squads, as well as managing the pathways for the squads beneath from Learn to Swim (LTS). The coach will also be responsible for managing, selecting and coaching the Junior GPS (U10-12) swimming team at Nudgee College. 

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching

  • Planning and implementing the coaching of swimmers at Nudgee College Swimming in the Piranhas & Stingrays squads.
  • Manage, select and coach the Nudgee College Junior GPS (U10-12) Swimming Team and liaise with supervising teachers to enhance the GPS Swimming Program.
  • Assist with the coaching of the Sharks and Swordfish squads. 
  • Assist the Swimming Director with any reasonable coaching duties. 
  • Attend Local, State and National level swim meets as requested by the Swimming Director.
  • Coach and develop the Nudgee College Swimming Junior athletic development program in conjunction with the Nudgee College Strength & Conditioning Director.

Administration

  • Create pathways to Nudgee College Swimming Club from our own LTS, outside LTS programs and other State School Swimming programs.
  • Liaise with our LTS co-ordinator to maximise the LTS program that is being delivered and facilitate the first opportunity for racing.
  • Communicate with the parents of the Junior GPS (U10-12) Swimming Team and give them detailed feedback about their son’s swimming progression within the program.
  • Assist the Swimming Director with Talent Identification. 
  • Manage and lead the Junior GPS Swimming Camp.
  • Write annual plans for the Piranhas & Stingrays Squads.
  • Collect testing information for club members and create competition between squads based on this additional feedback.
  • Plan and implement social activities for the Junior Swimming Program.
  • Assist with the development of Nudgee College Swimming Open & Junior meets.
  • Assist updating the Club’s Facebook and Instagram accounts as requested by the Swimming Director.
  • Assist the Swimming Director with internal and external publicity, eg. Newsletters/Meet reports.
  • Attend two staff meetings each week to aid your professional development. One meeting will be a coaching team meeting and one will be one on one with the Swimming Director.
  • Continually look for new initiatives to drive participation in the GPS training program.
  • ID potential talent of GPS swimmers in the HPE classes and NC Inter-House Swimming carnival and communicate with parents the pathway they can take within the club/school swimming program.

To be suitable for this role you will need to maintain:

  • A Silver/Advanced level coaching accreditation, minimum and
  • Working with Children, Blue Card.
