The Mt Gravatt Aquatic & Fitness Centre is operated by Griffith Sport, a department of Corporate Services within Griffith University. Griffith Sport is responsible for the provision of a diverse range of sport and recreation activities, services and facilities for staff, students and the external community across Brisbane, Logan & the Gold Coast.
Additional to the Mt Gravatt Aquatic & Fitness Centre, Griffith Sport also manages the following facilities: Nathan Fitness Centre, Griffith University Tennis Centre - Mt Gravatt, Gold Coast Aquatic & Fitness Centre, Gold Coast Athletics Centre, Griffith 5-a-side Soccer venue and a number of indoor and outdoor courts and fields. Additional to the facility management, Griffith Sport are also responsible for all sport and recreation programming including: An extensive Learn to Swim program, an Active Kids holiday sports program, Sport Competitions, large scale Fun Run events, University Nationals Representation & Sporting Clubs and all on campus Events & Orientation.
The Manager, Mt Gravatt Aquatic & Fitness Centre is predominantly responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Aquatic centre (25m pool, heated program pool, children's splash pool). There is also a fitness centre within the facility as well as a recreation hall, outdoor courts and field located nearby that are also managed by the position. These are a smaller part of the responsibilities of the role, however do require ongoing attention on a daily basis and prioritisation as required. The position is required to engage with internal and external stakeholders optimising facility utilisation and performance.
This is a continuing, full time position based at the Mt Gravatt campus.
The successful candidate will have highly developed communication, organisational, negotiation and administrative skills with effective people management skills. They will be self-motivated and able to demonstrate a high level of individual initiative, discretion and judgement to perform duties independently and to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision. At least 3-5 years experience in sport management is required, ideally in aquatics. Involvement in student based services would be advantageous.
There is an expectation that this person would be easily able to integrate into a team environment and be able to adapt to a very diverse workplace with competing priorities on a daily basis. The role is ideal for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who strives for continuous improvement and innovation as well as having a positive impact in mentoring staff. The person will be able to develop a positive rapport with colleagues, staff, customers and other stakeholders pivotal to the operation of the centre and associated programs and services.
HEW Level 6: $76,472 - $81,642 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $89,472 - $95,522 per annum.
