Cycling Australia (CA) is the peak governing body for cycling in Australia.

The role is responsible for leading and building the national road racing program.

This is a full-time position within a national organisation.  The role will include some interstate travel and work outside standard hours is expected.

PRIMARY DUTIES

The Road Manager is principally responsible for developing Cycling Australia's:

  • National Road Championship events;
  • National Road Series;
  • Competition Support Services;
  • Perform other duties compatible with the requirements of an event organisation as directed from time to time by the General Manager - Sport

Key responsibilities & accountabilities include:

National Events

  • Support the planning, implementation and review of the Road National Championships (Junior and Masters);
  • Management of pre and post event briefings for all road national championships;
  • Supporting the sponsorship activation as necessary;
  • Management of event medals;
  • Act as the primary liaison for all event organisers and teams;
  • Management of event entries and seeding.

UCI

  • Leading event registration for UCI events;
  • Leading UCI Team Registration.

National Series

  • Oversee the planning, implementation and review of all National Road Series (Elite Road, Para-Cycling, Junior):
    • Leading the team registrations process:
    • Management of pre and post event briefings for all series events;
    • Act as the primary liaison for all event organisers and teams;
    • Maintenance of points for all national series events;
    • Providing jerseys to all events;
    • Supporting the sponsorship activation (as necessary);
    • Managing administration for all events;
    • Acting as or coordinating event Technical Delegates.

Support Services

  • Leading the administration of national support services including:
    • National Calendar and Event Sanctioning
  • Management of CA event equipment;
  • Management of payments to Commissaires for all National events (where applicable).

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Demonstrates initiative and leadership in the planning and implementation of all projects;
  • Demonstrated positive feedback from teams, riders and event organisers;
  • Timely and effective communication internally and externally;
  • Increases in registrations in national events.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Key knowledge, skills and experience required

  • Qualifications in event management, project management or sport;
  • Extensive experience in road cycling;
  • Experience in working with cycling teams, organisers and government agencies;
  • Significant experience in managing multiple stakeholders on large-scale projects;
  • Strong attention to detail.

Desirable but not essential 

  • Previous experience as a competitive cyclist, race organiser or in team management.

Essential Requirements

  • National Police Check
  • Working with children check
  • Drivers Licence
