We are looking for a self-motivated, commercially savvy and passionate Social Media Specialist, with at least five years of proven experience in a similar role, to join our Marketing team at The Australian Ballet.
Reporting to the Digital Manager, this role will support the development of and execution of innovative strategies that spearhead The Australian Ballet as a thought leader and disruptor in the digital space, both locally and globally. You will take the reins of our social channels and grow and nurture an engaged audience into highly interactive communities – and provide excellent community support to grow and create and collaborate on best practice marketing.
This is a very ‘hands on’ role and requires someone with dedication and strong communication skills to seek collaborative opportunities, motivate internal stakeholders and collaborate with marketing peers. Execution skills to make things happen is a must, as well as up to date knowledge of key social channels and reporting tools for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube. The Australian Ballet has a social audience of over half a million people with some of the highest organic engagement rates in Australia and the world, and above industry benchmark high performing social advertising. Responsibilities of this autonomous role include;
- Organic social media posting and community management
- You will have a junior part time resource to cover community and comment moderation
- Paid social media advertising
- Oversee performance marketing managed by our Adwords and Display agency
- Digital Audience and Google Analytics reporting
- Video content ideation – working with our in-house record and broadcast team
- Manage YouTube and BalletTV video content strategy
- Manage Podcast strategy
Desired Skills and Experience
This is not an entry level role. Ballet knowledge isn’t required. You will work closely with the Context Expert who will help you on your knowledge of dance. So bring a passionate and fast learning attitude.
The perfect candidate for this role will come to us with all the tools in their tool kit to manage a brand of our size and be ready to hit the ground running. Your proven experience to date will have been on a consumer-based brand (ideally within the arts, media or sporting brand) and you will have a proven track record in developing and converting new audiences.
You will have formal qualifications in marketing or journalism, have impeccable writing skills, and have been working in a social media role for more than five years. You will also be an expert in creating and optimising Social Media advertising in order to develop and convert new “culturally curious” audiences.
