The primary purpose of this role is to support the Sport Development Manager in working to develop and grow the sport of rowing in Western Australia. This role will focus on the administrative and operational support required for the delivery around club, coach, official and athlete development programs and also provide support for the management of key stakeholder relationships and implementation of a range of growth-related programs and projects.

The position requires a positive, highly motivated and energetic candidate with excellent communication and strong organisation skills. The ability to forge a close working relationship with Rowing WA affiliated bodies, staff, volunteers and other key stakeholders will be essential to the successful achievement of this position’s objectives.

  • A passion for sport and understanding of what it takes to work in the sporting industry
  • The ability to be task focused and get things done
  • A positive “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups and manage difficult situations
  • Proven organisation and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Competency in information technology with experience in a range of software applications and social media e.g. Microsoft Office suite, Facebook and Instagram and Photoshop/Canva
  • The ability to work independently and part of a broader team as well as ask for help when required
  • Open Drivers Licence and Current Working with Children Check

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the sport of rowing

The role is offered as an initial fixed term contract for 12 months

Hours of Work

The role is a part-time position of 15 hours per week

This role will require out of hours and weekend work and includes travel to clubs and schools

The primary place of work is the Rowing WA Office (Canning Bridge)

Weekly hours including set work days will be negotiated with the preferred candidate


An hourly rate of $26 p/h plus superannuation

Rowing WA is a not for profit organisation and is one of seven State/Territory Associations, which make up the membership of the national body, Rowing Australia.
Rowing WA’s mission is to ensure the existence of quality participation opportunities, servicing and support of member clubs and delivery of quality pathways within the sport of Rowing. This is achieved through our strategic objectives:
