We are a nationally focused high-performance centre reaching all regions of NSW with an Olympic and Paralympic training facility based at Sydney Olympic Park. Our experts work in collaboration with partners within the national sporting system to create and deliver high performance services and environments to prepare athletes and coaches for international competition.

The Data Scientist role is accountable for developing and maintaining systems to gather, manage and review information from a variety of sources, apply exploratory data analytics to detect trends, associations, correlations, and assist to build statistical models to make predictions and distil meaningful insights. A strong focus is put on using these insights to make recommendations to support sport and organisational performance objectives.

About you

You will have:

  • Several years’ experience in the provision and application of data analytics/data management within high performance sport
  • Experience across different sports and/or levels of the high-performance athlete pathway
  • Experience analysing sport data and information from a variety of sources to detect trends, associations, and cause-effect relationships relative to performance targets
  • Extensive experience analysing data and communicating it to individuals or groups using graphics and charts for reports and presentations
  • Previous experience with data management systems and platforms (SmartaBase desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with high performance teams including coaches and athletes
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and map organisational data management processes
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate project planning, delivery and monitoring on time, within scope
  • Proven ability to respond to requests for statistics and sport performance results in a timely, accurate and effective manner

  • Masters or PhD in Data Science or related field

Employer and Other Details

This is a full-time position, attracting a competitive salary, plus 9.5% superannuation.  The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2020 in line with the Olympic cycle.  An extension into the next cycle is possible should the role/funds still be available, and services be satisfactory.

This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.
