What is Equestrian Australia looking for in their Sports Operations Manager?

This role will be responsible for the management and delivery of all Equestrian Australia Sports services. This core part of the organisation is responsible for delivering services to athletes, coaches and officials, encompassing the overall membership base. The Sports Operations Manager will work closely with the CEO in establishing strong viable pathways to effectively service the members and grow Equestrian sports.

Key Accountabilities:

Pathways

  • Establish pathways that effectively deliver contemporary and best practice education and training programs to  develop increased competency and participation across all Equestrian Australia sports;
  • Develop the framework and systems around a program for licenses, accreditation and registration, and professional development of athletes, officials and coaches.

Members & Stakeholders

  • Support the CEO around the overall management of key stakeholder groups including FEI, Sport Aust, AIS, AOC, PA and the Board, committees, panels and advisory groups;
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with the 8 sport disciplines and the coaching committee, state branches, participant members and other key stakeholders;
  • Ensure the Sport Operations area efficiently and effectively responds to requests for information from State Branches, Discipline Committees, and Participant Members.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership to the Sports Operations team and ensure they are suitably trained to perform their roles and to comply with relevant policies and accurate business reporting;     
  • Establish strong working relationships with the 8 sport disciplines and coaching committee, State Branches, Participant Members and other stakeholders to ensure activities and growth across Equestrian sports.

You will be expected to have –

  • Experience in managing pathway programs highly regarded;
  • Tertiary qualification in sport or business management or similar;
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills;
  • Staff management experience;
  • Finance management;
  • High level administration experience;
  • Strategic or business/operational planning experience;
  • Project management experience;
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrate good people and relationship building skills both internally and externally;
  • Be able to express ideas and concepts clearly, effectively both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences;
  • Resilient, dynamic and engaging individual with political maturity, patience and diplomacy skills;
  • Have an empathy for volunteerism;
  • Be a confident communicator, able to represent the organisation at the highest level;
  • Take projects from concept to delivery, and successful completion.

  • A competitive salary will be offered dependent on skills and experience
