The Adelaide Football Club are seeking a Legal Counsel & Business Advisor to effectively partner with the business, understand its issues and produce viable and tangible solutions.
This newly created role will support the ongoing legal compliance of the operations of the Adelaide Football Club and ensure all dealings are conducted in a manner that appropriately enhances and protects its business interests. You will be a business enabler, make commercially savvy decisions and support a dynamic and entrepreneurial management team across a range of activities. By effectively partnering with the AFC business teams and ensure success of our strategic decisions based on both commercial and legal analysis.
This role is initially offered as 24 months fixed term.
You must demonstrate a high level commercial acumen and the ability to identify and mitigate risks accordingly. You must be a strong strategic and analytical thinker, decisive, be able to develop effective working relationships and work within a team, and enjoy a high level of responsibility and autonomy. You must have a strong understanding and experience in advising on commercial and contract matters, excellent interpersonal communication and team skills and excellent judgment to support high quality decision-making. Experience in sports business and a sound knowledge of commercial law will also be well regarded.
To be a successful candidate you must hold a current Unrestricted Legal Practising Certificate in South Australia. With a minimum seven years’ experience in practicing law, with a sound understanding of the requirements of effective in-house legal practice. You will have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse range of employees and stakeholders and manage multiple projects. You bring high level communication skills including the ability to convey complex business issues, legal briefs and business plans for the Executive and the Board. Experience with a range of business issues, including commercial law, contracting, intellectual property, business operations and corporate governance obligations and risks.
