At Tennis Australia (TA) plans are well underway to deliver the most spectacular summer of tennis in 2020.  The Australian Open (AO) and AO Series Events will be back bigger and better than ever.  On top of this we are launching the ATP Cup, a premier team event held across Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, that will see the world’s top male players take to the court in the lead up to the AO.
To help us deliver on our ambitious plans we have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Officer to join our Integrity and Compliance Team.  Reporting to the Manager, Safety & Risk you will not only support with business as usual projects such as the redevelopment & consolidation of policies, but will also have the opportunity to work with partners and contractors engaging with Tennis Australia in the build up to the Australian open and other events.
As the Safety Officer, you will support our team in the following areas:

  • Assist in maintaining and developing the safety management system for Tennis Australia (including Major Events) as well as our State Member Associations
  • Ensure staff have received information, instruction and training on the safety management system and competently understand their responsibilities. 
  • Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments and Incident Investigations as required.
  • Conduct safety assessments in consultation with staff, including the development of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) / Work Instructions.
  • Assist in the development of project group reports
  • Support the Manager, Safety & Risk with running workshops

What you will bring to the role: 

  • Enthusiasm for Safety and Risk, specifically within the major events industry
  • A solutions focused and problem solving mindset
  • Commitment to the principles of privacy and confidentiality
  • An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (Victoria) and the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Ability to be able to identify safety issues and prepare a comprehensive plan to mitigate the associated risk
  • Cert IV or higher qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
