As the Director of Professional Tennis you will be responsible for collaborating with our professional tennis players in the delivery of our core ambition for elite tennis - to develop players that inspire Australian’s to choose Tennis.  Reporting into the Chief Tennis Officer (CTO), this senior role will see you partnering with our elite athletes in mutually designing and delivering their personal performance plans in order to drive high performance outcomes on the world stage.  

You will also foster a culture where Australian players exhibit an unwavering passion to compete, a commitment to maximising their potential and a genuine love of the game - at not only major team events such as Davis Cup and Fed Cup, but each time they walk onto a court.  Underpinned by our organisational values of teamwork, loyalty, respect and humility, the ultimate ambition will be to create Australian players that make Australians proud.

This role operates in a complex environment, has a strong hands-on component and will be required to actively communicate, consult and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.  Critical to success will be an ability to build outstanding relationships and networks in order to drive continuous improvement in the performances of our most elite athletes.

In this role you will;

  • Develop and implement the Professional Tennis strategy in consultation with the CTO
  • Co-create individual development programs for our elite players, with due consideration given to the technical, tactical, psychological and physical aspects of tennis and the athlete. This remit extends to influencing the optimum environments for each players maximum development, whilst maintaining a key liaison and mentoring role
  • Develop and maintain relations with key stakeholders to advance the aspirations of our professional tennis players
  • Facilitate the active connection between our professional players and our growth ambitions for the game
  • Collaborate with the Director of Talent Development in the development of players that are tracking at elite levels
  • Actively contribute to the success of our national teams
  • Be a vital member of the Australian Tennis leadership team, providing mentoring and development opportunities for your team, whilst also fostering an inclusive culture across the business unit
  • Stay abreast of elite tennis trends to ensure we stay ahead of the game

To be successful in this role you will bring;

  • Demonstrated success working in high performance sport at an elite level
  • Past tennis playing experience at the elite international level preferred
  • High level of emotional intelligence and a proven abilitiy to build professional relationships with large, diverse group of stakeholders, including strong existing relationships with key influencers across Australian tennis
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Executive management experience, including demonstrable leadership of remote teams and proven management of business processes
  • A passion for the sport of Tennis and a strong desire to contribute to the growth of the sport
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced and complex environment
  • An alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Loyalty and Teamwork, ensuring a culture of inclusivity across all elements of professional tennis
  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and travel as required
  • Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check & National Police Check
