Sydney Coastrek 2019 event volunteer

The Fred Hollows Foundation

  • Sydney New South Wales Australia
  • Volunteer Position
Closing 10 Feb 2019
Applications 0

Sydney Coastrek 2019 is a major fundraising event for The Fred Hollows Foundation's sight restoring work. Volunteers are the face of the event, so a happy smile and words of encouragement are essential ingredients.

Roles are performed on site at the start/registration, checkpoints or the finish line, as well as route marshal roles anywhere along the 60km route - between Maroubra, Vaucluse, Rushcutters Bay, Clifton Gardens and Balgowlah Heights (west of Manly). Groups of friends or work mates are able to work together at one site if preferred. You'll have loads of fun in a beautiful location and help The Foundation to restore sight.

Some of the options include:

  • General volunteer at Checkpoints, Start or Finish line – roles will be rotated and may include: Assisting with bib collection and team change administration; Start/Finish line support set-up or pack-up; Checkpoint support/set-up and pack-up; and cheering and directing trekkers.
  • Marshalling on the course: Motivations central! You will be given a map/brief and can provide directions and information to participants out on the trail and assist with road crossings where required, all the while encouraging and cheering teams as they pass. Great fun to do with a friend.
  • You can’t help out on Event Day – there are a couple of jobs that need to be done either side of event day such as, a letterbox drop to local residents & businesses letting them know the event is going to be on; and sorting gear at event HQ to make sure it gets to the correct location.

  • Maroubra Beach 60k Start: 5:45am – 6:45am
  • Vaucluse (Christison Park), checkpoint # 1: 7:30am – 12pm
  • Rushcutters Bay, 30k start/checkpoint #2: Shift 1 - 7:45- 11:30am; Shift 2 – 11:30am-3:30pm (60km checkpoint)
  • Clifton Gardens, Checkpoint #3: Shift 1 - 9:30am – 3:15 pm;  Shift 2 – 3pm-9pm
  • Balgowlah Heights (Tania Park) Finish line: Shift 1 – 11:30am-5:45pm; Shift 2 – 5:30pm – 12 midnight.

All volunteers will receive a small gift to wear on the day, refreshments and a FREE entry to participate in a Coastrek event within 12 months of the Sydney event.
