The University of Canberra Hockey Club is seeking quality and aspiring coaches for our Capital League 1 Women’s and Capital League 2 Men’s teams.

The coach will have the ability to sculpt their team and implement ways to maximise performance. The successful coach will work collaboratively with other club coaches, players  and officials to create a supportive environment both on the field for games and trainings and off the field as a key leadership role in the club.

The successful applicants will be expected to plan and deliver training schedules and activities, prepare game strategies and conduct competition evaluation as well as encourage their team to be actively engaged in socially with the club

DUTIES:

  • Work with the University Canberra Hockey Club, Board of Members and other club coaches to determine the individual performance needs of club members
  • Develop and implement effective training and development schedules support team performance
  • Evaluate own and opposing team capabilities to determine winning game strategy
  • Assess players’ skills and team positions in consultation with other club coaches.
  • Support and encourage players to harness the talents and energy of the team
  • Deliver on and off field outcomes as set by the Board of Members
  • Commitment to challenging and improving your current coaching knowledge and skills
  • Work closely with reserve grades to ensure development of future players
  • Uphold the values of the University of Canberra Hockey Club

  • The ability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • The ability critically assess performance and skill
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to gain the cooperation and assistance of a range of people to ensure effective working relationships.
  • Coordinate effective training, development and fitness sessions to achieve strategic goals

ESSENTIAL

  • Must have Level One Hockey coaching accreditation
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working With Vulnerable People
  • Prior coaching experience

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Approx. 6 Hours per week including training sessions plus game day attendance
  • Attendance and involvement in team selections during February/March
  • Evening and weekend work will be required
  • Honorarium packages are negotiable based on the applicant’s experience
