Golf Australia is the national governing body for golf in Australia with a goal to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grassroots golfers through to the elite levels, spectators, volunteers and associated industry bodies.

Golf Australia is currently going through a significant period of change as an organisation as a result of the incorporation of state golf member associations into the national governing body of golf through the One Golf process.

This is a newly created position reporting to the Senior Manager - Inclusion. The Participation Officer - Inclusion will be responsible for the finalisation and go-to-market of the Freestyle Golf program in Victoria. Delivered in local parks, ovals or leisure facilities, Freestyle Golf is a modified introductory Golf program in partnership with VicHealth with the aim of increasing physical activity in youth from diverse backgrounds including people with a disability. The role will also implement the Sport and Recreation Victoria - Supporting Victorian Sport & Recreation (SVSR) workplan for Golf Victoria.

Additionally, the Participation Officer - Inclusion will assist the Senior Manager - Inclusion as directed on the roll-out of projects such as the Golf Inclusion Research Project, Inclusive tournaments, and the delivery of inclusive golf initiatives at schools and clubs.

The role will suit candidates tertiary qualified in sports/event management or other relevant degree, preferably with experience in engaging/influencing internal and external stakeholders to drive participation and program outcomes. These experiences may have been gained in a full time position or a student internship/work placement.

Outstanding communication skills are required, as is the ability to prioritise multiple and varied tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.

A golfing background is not considered essential, however candidates must have a passion for sport and an interest in developing and operationalising program strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to introduce the sport of golf to Victorians with diverse backgrounds or a disability.
