Are you a Purpose-led executive leader that has proven experience in delivering on commercial and operational strategies?

Racing Queensland is looking for a Chief Operational Officer (COO) to join our Executive Leadership Team.

In this role, you'll ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of Racing. The COO has primary responsibility for Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound strategy development, operational excellence and stakeholder partnerships across the three codes of racing.

The role also ensures delivery of a compelling racing product across three codes of racing. It also has leadership of operational functions associated with Information Technology (IT), People and Performance (HR) and industry education via a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), aligning these key areas with RQ's strategic goals to maintain a high performing and strong workplace culture, industry excellence and innovation.

What you'll do, day to day

  • Lead the development and implementation of a high-quality racing product across all three codes.
  • Create and implement racing programs that grow wagering revenues and support increased on-course attendance.
  • Identify new and innovative opportunities to drive commercially viable and sustainable outcomes across three codes.
  • Lead racing programming, handicapping, race fields creation and results management functions.
  • Formulate programming and prizemoney strategies to maximise returns to RQ and improve participant viability.
  • Lead the functions within your portfolio to help formulate department strategy, manage risk and deliver on short to medium term strategic objectives.
  • Provide advice and expertise to the CEO and Board on industry partnerships and performance, club commercial development and asset and facilities management.
