The Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) is the collective and representative voice of past, present and future male and female elite domestic and international cricketers in Australia. At our core, ACA’s purpose is to be the champion of our members and the game.

We are currently seeking a proactive and motivated Player Development Manager (PDM) Network Lead to lead and nurture the development and support of the PDM Network across Australian Cricket. A key responsibility of the role is empowering and supporting the PDMs to deliver ACA’s Player Development & Wellbeing Program (GamePlan) to maintain strong member experience and optimise our PDM Network’s impact so that they continue to help players thrive both on and off the field.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and implement a national capability framework for the Australian Cricket PDM Network focused on building skills, knowledge and capabilities to deliver ACA’s Player Development & Wellbeing Program (GamePlan) for our members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with PDMs, CA & State Associations, creating consistent professional practices across the PDM Network
  • Provide hands on support for the PDM Network in both an individual and collective capacity to empower continuous learning and nurture professional growth.
  • Lead the design and delivery of PDM-related conferences and initiatives that facilitate peer-to-peer and best practice learnings, in person and virtually.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to PDM’s with management of complex issues/challenges
  • Support and contribute to the delivery of GamePlan and associated development and wellbeing programs and activities.
  • Support ACA’s Transition & Past Player PDM to design programs, services and support to players to make a positive transitionin to life after sport.
  • Work with ACA’s GM Player Development & Wellbeing to provide talent management support to CA & State Associations for the PDM role for recruitment, onboarding and development.
  • Identify and respond to system level themes and needs to keep elevating the impact of PDMs and their work for ACA and our members.

As an experienced professional you will have extensive experience leading people and programs, preferably in a high performance and/or elite sports environment. Your superior communication and ability to build relationships will complement your ability to lead a small team and be a proactive participant in supporting cross-departmental activities.

  • Demonstrated strength in capability development - applying adult development theories and adult learning principles to strengthen performance and growth.
  • Extensive experience leading wellbeing, career, education, and personal development programs & initiatives, preferably in a high performance and/or elite sports environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse cultures, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills across both a project and program basis.
  • Ability to think big and small navigating between large strategic initiatives, and day-to-day program and operational requirements.
  • Strong results orientation with the proven ability to plan and deliver results.
  • Ability to think both organisation and industry-wide, considering multiple layers of impact when forming decisions.
  • A strong understanding of the PDM role or development program/services within cricket would be well regarded.
  • Relevant experience leading and managing people
