Detailed Description

About Sportspeople

Established in 1996, Sportspeople was the first agency in Australia to offer a specialised sport recruitment service. Some fourteen years later Sportspeople remains a highly specialised, boutique agency now offering a range of services to the broader sport, fitness and aquatics sector in Australia and New Zealand.   Sportspeople is a private Company, 100% Australian owned and operated.

In terms of our services our record speaks for itself. In comparison with any other agency operating in Australia in this sector, Sportspeople:

  • fills over 3 times more roles
  • fills 3 times more Executive roles (CEO/GM/EO)
  • recruits across a broader client base (nearly twice as many sports)
  • recruits over 3 times more middle and lower entry jobs

Over the past thirteen years Sportspeople has placed hundreds of staff across a diverse range of employers. Our recruitment services reach across the full spectrum of positions in sport, fitness, aquatics, coaching, venues, events, leisure and lifestyle from entry level, middle management to Chief Executive.

Sportspeople has also assisted with the recruitment of staff for major events including the 2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation (M2007), Rugby New Zealand 2011 Limited, the 2010 UCI Road Cycling World Championships and more recently the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games Organising Committee (SWMGOC).

Our client list is too extensive to provide in this overview, however our Past Clients section provides a specific source of information on some of the positions we have filled and some of the organisations with whom we have worked.

Sportspeople is also the owner/operator of the Sportspeople Jobs Market - Australia’s and New Zealand’s leading job board for the sport, fitness and aquatics sector. With over 280,000 absolute unique visitors in the past 12 months (source – Google Analytics) and more than 12,000 jobs over the past 3 years alone, the Sportspeople Jobs Market is the leading job board for this sector in Australia and enjoys a strong international presence. Sportspeople’s online presence is substantial, providing us with an unrivalled communication channel to Job Seekers and Employers in the sport, fitness and aquatic sector.

Broadening our reach

Over the past fourteen years Sportspeople has successfully completed recruitment assignments in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and in New Zealand including Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington. These assignments have been managed principally from our International Recruitment Centre in Sydney and supported, where necessary, by our Melbourne based staff and office.

As the Australian and New Zealand employment market recovers from the global downturn, Sportspeople, as the recruiter of choice in the sport, fitness and aquatic sector, is well positioned to assist employers as they re-build their staff resource.

To ensure we are best able to respond to the growth in our business, Sportspeople has recently introduced Associate Recruitment Consultants in both Victoria and the ACT, responsible for client servicing and business development within their defined territory. These Associate Recruitment Consultants supplement the permanent Sportspeople Recruitment Team.

Sportspeople are now offering the opportunity for an Associate Recruitment Consultant in New Zealand.

Have you got what it takes to work with Sportspeople?

Bringing job seekers and employers together underpins the collective endeavour of all of us involved with Sportspeople. We deliver all our services in a friendly, reliable and honest manner and have a dedicated commitment to ensuring jobs are filled with the best available candidates. We are very different to those agencies who view a recruitment assignment as a way to make a quick buck and others that keep their business operating by recycling candidates they have placed.

We are looking for an individual who wants to make a positive contribution to our Job Seekers and Employers, matching the skills and experiences of candidates to the needs of the employers. We are looking for an individual who will not settle for second best in a recruitment process and above all else, share our values particularly in the areas of customer service and business ethics.

You will need to be HR trained, preferably with a minimum of 3-5 years experience gained as a Recruitment Consultant in perm and/or temp desk. You will have an interest in sport, fitness and aquatics and be prepared to develop new relationship networks, building upon our dB of contacts while servicing our existing customers when required. Previous experience working in the sport, fitness or aquatic sector will be highly regarded.

You will be allocated a specific, agreed territory throughout which you will be free to operate and develop your business, in turn supported by the collective resources, network and systems of Sportspeople.

The Associate Recruitment Consultant opportunity will allow you to work as an Independent Contractor either full-time or part-time, depending on your needs and circumstances. Sportspeople’s fee structure will be assignment based so you’ll need to be comfortable working on a success-fee basis and be prepared to build your territory.
