A fresher, more contemporary style, new services for job seekers and employer’s alike and enhanced navigation are just some of the features of the new-look Sportspeople website released today.
According to Sportspeople’s General Manager, Angelique Lele, the changes are all part of keeping the Sportspeople website in step with user needs and broader market trends.
“The Sportspeople website was the original Job Board for the sport, fitness and aquatic sector when launched in Australia in 1999. At the time even mega-sites such as SEEK were only in their infancy and I’m sure no-one would have predicted the impact these online services would have on the employment market. Ten years later and now with its third face lift; the Sportspeople website is stronger than ever and continuing to grow in traffic, job advertisements and the addition of new services such as Learning, Trade and Forum.”
“Apart from a general refresh of the look of the website, we have ramped up the Job Seeker Registration platform, created new advertising options for employers, improved the visibility of some of the emerging ancillary services such as Sportspeople Learning and generally made it easier to navigate around the website. Featured Employers have greater visibility in the highest traffic areas of the site and direct job alert access to our Job Seekers.”
“While the Sportspeople Jobs Market remains the core service, Sportspeople Learning has boomed over the past 12 months with over 400 courses, programs and activities now listed. Job Seekers can reverse search jobs by qualifications and employers can choose from a wider selection of essential or desirable criteria when listing a role.”
“We have also introduced “Show Me More About This Employer” linking the Sportspeople Trade listing with the Sportspeople Jobs Market advertisement. This means employers can build a comprehensive profile at Sportspeople Trade and, when they have a job at the Sportspeople Jobs Market, job seekers can click through to get more information.”
“Our development team, including Eugene O’Brien and Janet Johnson, have done a fantastic job in fulfilling the brief and incorporating smart technology some of which is unmatched by the big budget, mega-sites. We’d like to think that we punch above our weight in the Australian market and despite our size, we continue to set the standard for Job Boards, bringing employers and job seekers together since 1996.”
“Over the past three years more than 10,000 job advertisements have been placed at the Sportspeople Jobs Market, firmly establishing it as Australia’s leading job board for the sport, fitness and aquatic sector. For the period 1 June, 2008 to 1 June 2009 the Sportspeople website had 194,528 absolute unique visitors (source: Google Analytics) and we’ve had an increase of 6.3% in traffic over the last month alone.” she said.
Ms Lele extended a special thanks to all past and present Sportspeople website users over the last 10 years, in particular those who have taken the time to make suggestions about website improvements.
"Sportspeople is a small business with the ability to quickly respond to its customer base, ensuring we not only cater for their immediate needs but also any emerging trends or applications. That's why we have already started on some other new services which will be rolled out in 2009/2010. As always, keep watching this space!" she said.
